Quit Your Belly Aching~ Part 1

Quit your Belly-Aching

Simple Solutions that make Sense

Welcome back to Biology 101. For some of us it has been a long time. But in order to begin to rebuild our health naturally we need to get to know ourselves inside and out. So, please, bearwith me as we go back to some basics.

Many of us have spent years taking our hard working body for granted. Never giving a second thought what happens to that hotdog and fries once they slide down.

Or who ends up doing all the internal labour.

Your entire digestive system (sometimes referred to as gastrointestinal tract, GI tract or gutt) is about 25-30 feet long, and has two main functions: to absorb nutrients and eliminate wastes.

From beginning to end it includes the mouth, throat, stomach, small, large intestine and rectum.

&Taken from statistics in 2001, Estimated 40 million people in North America are afflicted with ailments of the gastrointestinal tract. These include ulcers, hepatitis, hernias, heartburn, colitis, irritable bowel disease, diveticulitis and cancers.

Gastrointestinal disease is responsible for 30% of cancer deaths, 25% of operations, 10% of the total sick days that adults are ill from work and $17 billion in direct health care costs.

The bowel is the part of the digestive tract consisting of small and large intestine.

It is this hard working, unsung hero that will get our attention.

Enzymes- the Life Inside

As vital as probiotics and fiber are, there is still one more crucial component to digestive health. So crucial, as a matter of fact, that it is called the key to longevity.

Enzymes are one of the most essential elements in our body.

They are proteins manufactured by all plant and animal cells.

Cells need them as an absolute necessity to life. Enzymes operate as catalysts to all other functions in your body and are required for all chemical reaction inside a body to take place.

All of your tissues, muscles, bones and organs are run by enzymes. Your digestive system, immune system, circulatory system depend on enzymes. Without enzymes you could do nothing.

For anyone familiar with digestive enzymes they most likely relate them to helping an already chronic digestive disorder, hernias and ulcers.
However, they are so much more than that. You should never be waiting for a serious situation before you are introduced to digestive enzymes.

CRITTERS??? IN THIS BODY?!?!

What a brilliant thing your body is! Strategically designed to nourish, repair, strengthen and protect you.

“Disease begins in the colon” is heard frequently in the Natural Health circles and, although very simplified, we are beginning to see there is a lot of truth in those words.

Our typical North American diet leaves our digestive system lacking, often struggling, and vulnerable. But the threats don’t just come from within; they can also come from without.
Poor digestion can cause a toxic build-up in the body, including the colon.

This toxic waste material in the colon then frequently turns into - in the words of National Geographic - "a sinister world of monstrous creatures that feed on living flesh: parasites".

In a feature article in its August 2000 issue Discover Magazine published, "Every living thing has at least one parasite that lives inside or on it, and many, including humans, have far more.

Scientists are only just beginning to discover exactly how powerful these hidden inhabitants can be, but their research is pointing to a remarkable possibility: Parasites may rule the world.

The notion that tiny creatures we've largely taken for granted are such a dominant force is immensely disturbing.

We are collections of cells that work together, kept harmonized by chemical signals. If an organism can control those signals - an organism like a parasite - then it can control us.
And therein lies the peculiar and precise horror of parasites."
